Calcined Petroleum Coke is widely used for producing Anode Paste and Prebaked Carbon Anode for electrolytic aluminum application as additive in graphite electrode and carbon raiser production also used as fuel for silicon metal smelting.
Calcined petroleum coke aslo called CPC is the product of removing impurities such as moisture, ash, and volatile from petroleum coke by calcining low sulfur petroleum coke in calciner at 1300 ℃. The appearance of calcined petroleum coke is black or dark gray hard solid with metallic luster and porous. The components of calcined petroleum coke are hydrocarbons, which contain more than 98.5% carbon. Calcined petroleum coke is widely used in industry. It can be used in steel-making, iron-making, general casting, and other industries. It can also be used to make casting brake discs, crankshafts, brake pads, and so on.
Petroleum coke after calcination:
1) Eliminate volatile matter and moisture in raw materials. After calcination, the volatile matter of calcined petroleum coke is less than 0.5%, and the moisture content is less than 0.3%.
The volatile content and moisture of the calcined coke represent the degree of calcining. If it fails to meet the requirements, it will shrink twice and form cracks during calcining.
2) The density and mechanical strength of calcined petroleum coke is improved. The true density is above 2.00g/cm3.
The true density of the calcined coke affects the true density of the final product. The poor mechanical strength and the low bulk density affect the molding mainly due to difficulty in molding. The height of the green agglomerate cannot meet the requirements within the required time and affects the operation of the aluminum electrolytic cell. The main manifestation is slag drop.
3) The conductivity of Calcined petroleum coke improved.
The specific resistance of calcined coke affects the resistivity of the final product.
